Back pain is the number-one problem facing the workforce in the United States today. To illustrate just how big a problem low back pain is, consider these facts.
YOU CAN, IN All PROBABILITY, END YOUR BACK PAIN NOW IF YOU MAKE THE EFFORT! The overwhelming majority of people, whether suffering from chronic or acute back pain, have insufficient strength in the major muscle groups of their backs.
The doctors of chiropractic at Complete Health & Chiropractic Center have extensive training and experience in health science, sports injury management, and exercise science. They will be able to assess your individual back condition and offer you an individualized program to end the dysfunction and pain.
When muscles, tendons, or ligaments of the spine are damaged through work injuries, car accidents, overexertion, repetitive motion, or simply weakened by inactivity, your overall health is affected.
An important step towards complete rehabilitation is restoring proper spinal function through chiropractic adjustments.
Without some form of rehabilitation, recovery from an injury or a long-standing spinal problem can take longer to achieve. Overlooking the importance of improved range of motion and muscle strengthening can result in a relapse, with your original health problem returning again and again. Chiropractic rehabilitation involves the restoration of proper joint function of the spine or extremities, and the strengthening of supporting muscles and soft tissues. This will usually involve specific spinal adjustments, combined with a program of stretching, resistance training, and exercises to improve muscle tone. Some patients receive a set of simple exercises or "maneuvers" they can do at home. Other types of injuries will require the use of specialized equipment to isolate and strengthen specific areas of the spine.
Ask your chiropractic doctor for ways you can speed the healing process and strengthen the supporting soft tissues of your spine through appropriate rehabilitation.
Whiplash is the common name given to the injury where there is a hyperextention (increased backward motion) and hyperflexion (increased forward motion) of the cervical (neck) spine. More simply put, the head is dramatically thrust forward and backward. Car accidents and falls can cause whiplash injuries.
When bones of the spine lose their normal position or motion, sensitive nerves and blood vessels to the head can be affected. When spinal nerves and related tissues are stretched or irritated they can produce throbbing headaches. Aspirin and medications may cover up these warning signs, but do not correct the underlying structural cause. Many people find relief and correction with chiropractic care. When the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limits, the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine and head can be overstretched or tom. The soft, pulpy discs between spinal bones can bulge, tear or rupture. Vertebrae can be forced out of their normal position, reducing range of motion. The spinal cord and nerve roots in the neck can get stretched and irritated. The resulting instability of the spine and soft tissues can result in headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, pain in the shoulder, arms and hands, reduced ability to turn and bend, and even low back problems. As the body attempts to adapt, symptoms may not appear for weeks or even months later.
Symptoms of whiplash include headaches; visual disturbance; stiffness of the neck; restriction of movement; and shoulder, neck, or arm pain. These symptoms may or may not be felt immediately. It is estimated that most whiplash injuries are not felt for several hours, days, and in some cases even months or years following the accident.
Even if you are not in pain following a whiplash incident, it is important to receive prompt attention to your injury, as the structural balance of your neck and spine is important to your health. We can assist in your recovery by correctly adjusting your neck and/or spine so it has the chance to heal properly. In addition, we can recommend physical therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, and natural anti-inflammatories to put you back on the road to good health.
Discs are the cartilage pads that separate, cushion and help connect the vertebrae that make up your spinal column. They serve as shock absorbers between each of the vertebrae and are constantly subjected to the pull of gravity and the torque from everyday movement. Disc problems can be the result of genetics, the normal "wear and tear" of aging, and injury.
Since spinal discs have a very poor blood supply, they depend upon the circulation of joint fluids to bring in nutrients and expel waste. If a spinal joint loses its normal motion and this pumping action is impaired, the health of the disc deteriorates. Like a wet sponge, a healthy disc is flexible. A dry sponge is hard, stiff, and can crack easily. This is how many disc problems begin. Because of the way each disc is attached to the vertebra above and below it, a disc cannot "slip" as commonly thought. However, trauma or injury to the spine can cause discs to bulge, herniate, or worse, rupture. This can be quite painful, putting pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots, interfering with their function. The chiropractic approach to disc problems is to help restore better motion and position to the spinal joint. Besides reducing disc bulging, better spinal function helps reduce inflammation and begin the slow process of healing the surrounding soft tissue.
While results cannot be guaranteed, many patients have avoided needless surgery or a dependency on pain pills by choosing conservative chiropractic care.
This common back problem is one we see frequently. We effectively treat this malady by realigning the vertebrae and returning the spine to its normal range of motion, thereby reducing the pressure on the discs and spinal joints. We also incorporate physical therapy as well as strengthening exercises for the abdominal and back muscles. Core stabilization is essential for the prevention of subsequent disc problems.
Constant suffering from back or neck pain isn't something you have to live with. Now there's a highly effective, proactive and pain-free treatment that can eliminate the pain associated with degenerative joint disease and bulging/herniated discs. Spinal Decompression Therapy is the leading non-surgical alternative to traditional treatments such as medication and surgical procedures.

We recommend Metagenics brand supplements. Please visit our nutritional supplements website for additional information and to register with us!
